ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Monique Stokvis is a Saskatoon, Saskatchewan–based children’s author and retired Canadian Air Force Captain.  She served 25 years in the Canadian military as a top gun fighter jet controller, rising to the rank of captain and earning numerous accolades. 


Monique studied psychology, with a focus on eating disorders, at the University of Manitoba. Having personally struggled with an eating disorder for over 50 years, she is passionate about educating parents and children and offering hope to those affected by the disease.  

Her book provides support to parents and children, while fostering awareness and providing guidance to families.


Monique is also a musician, playing the piano and guitar, and continuing to perform whenever she can.  She  is bilingual, speaking both English and French. 


Monique is a proud mother of three children and three grandchildren she refers to as the “joys of her life.”  In addition to her work as an author, Monique volunteers with Breast Cancer Saskatchewan and a local animal shelter.
